This blog is initiated on 25th July 2012 with a view to providing some sort of a service, in my own little way, to the needy in poorer sections of society and all other living creatures, as also to protect our Hindu Dharma and preserve Mother Nature. As you might have observed, the name of this blog 'SADGATI' is derived from my favourite dieties - SAI DATTA GAAYATHRI.
‘The hand that helps is holier than the lips that pray!’ - so said, Bhagawan Shri Sathya Saibaba.
Several charitable trusts have come up with this cause and have been doing yeomen’s service. However, due to volumes and very wide spectrum, the help that is rendered is neither comprehensive nor adequate. It is this aspect of the service that has been engaging my attention for quite some time.
If we, in this great country, are living this much peacefully, it is only because our ancestors practised, in true letter and spirit, the precepts envisaged in our Hindu Dharma. But, the onslaught of western culture has polluted our minds and culture to such an extent that the ethical values we had preserved for centuries, have come to naught in a short span of just a decade or two. If we allow this situation to drift away further, the day may not be far off, God forbid, when our Hindu Dharma may be extinct from this Universe. In fact, if you have been watching the quiz-like programmes on our epics in TVs in recent times, we cannot but bow our heads in shame when the female participants - from teenage to middle-age, displayed utter lack of basic knowledge of our Puraanaas, etc. (Of course, boys and males too are no exception.) Whereas, in earlier times, our ancestors (mothers and grand-mothers, in particular) taught us all these things through lullabies, bed-time stories, shathakaas, etc.
Thus, there is an urgent need to promote and preserve our own culture and religion, so that our progeny too can live in peace.
But, before we embark upon the gigantic and stupendous task of working for the welfare of all living beings, we should initially limit the spheres and areas of operation to a few tasks in order to achieve immediate and better results. No doubt, ‘viswa maanava saubhraatRutva’ (universal brotherhood) is our basic culture.

In my opinion, any nation and generation can progress only if they have faith in the following adages:-
ధర్మో రక్షతి రక్షితః | धर्मॊ रक्षति रक्षितः । dharmO rakShati rakShitaH |
వృక్షో రక్షతి రక్షితః | वृक्षॊ रक्षति रक्षितः । vRukShO rakShati rakShitaH |

గో బ్రాహ్మణేభ్యః శుభమస్తు నిత్యం లోకా స్సమస్తా స్సుఖినో భవన్తు ||
स्वस्ति प्रजाभ्यः परिपालयन्तां न्याय्यॆन मार्गॆण महीं महीशाः ।
गॊ ब्राह्मणॆभ्यः शुभमस्तु नित्यं लॊका स्समस्ता स्सुखिनॊ भवन्तु॥

Therefore, to start with, let us first set right our own house, community, town, etc. After all, it is rightly said, “Charity begins at home.” But, it should not end there. I would, therefore, appeal that we may work for the immediate advancement of the following 3 sections in particular, which could be extended to all the other sections above referred to, in course of time, after gaining experience and deriving some satisfaction of achievement in the undertaken tasks.
వి ధే హి ( విప్ర – ధేను - హిందూ ధర్మ ) vi dhE hi (i.e. vipra – dhEnu – hindU dharma)
'vi dhE hi' stands for - the Brahmin community, native Cows and Hinduism. (This does not exclude or preclude other human beings from being served, irrespective of their caste, creed, religion or nationality.) But, how to go about realising these cherished goals, is the big question in my mind.
1. One way is to join and work in close co-ordination with existing charitable trusts or philanthropic non-profit organisations working on similar lines. For better interaction, they should be situated in and around my place of operation, i.e. Vijayawada of Andhra Pradesh, India. Here, fortunately, I came across two extremely good organisations – viz. Smt. Tummalapalli Annapurnamma Brahmin Students’ Home Trust and Smt. Rallabhandy Kameswaramma Memorial Charitable Trust. While the first one is catering to the needs of poor brahmin students – by providing food, shelter and scholarship to resident male students and stipend to non-resident female students, the latter organisation is extending merit scholarships to indigent (brahmin) students. While some more are left out, there are yet other aspects to be taken care of, like reasonable financial capability of these students and other members of their families to eke out their livelihood (which could have been jeopardised, in some cases, due to sudden incapacitation of the income-earning family-head), meeting expenses of special functions like upanayanams, marriages, etc., as also meeting expenses towards medical aid for treating general, chronic or acute diseases, etc., in these poor brahmin families. To cater to these areas, in addition to institutionalised service, individual service through personal interaction with these families and a much much more closer scrutiny are required. In short, we need to embark upon 'FAMILY ADOPTION SCHEME', similar to the Banks' 'village adoption scheme'. (These will be discussed further in the relative pages, to be opened shortly.)
2. Thus, the latter part of the above cause, as also the other 2 sections, viz. (1) welfare of native cows (fortunately again, there is a Trust locally catering to this need - Sree Vijayawada Gosamrakshana Sangham) and (2) religious observance of Hindu dharma, whose roots are contained in sanskrit, and its propagation in the local language – Telugu, need to be taken care of. (These also will be discussed further in the relative pages, to be opened shortly.)
3. Websites like – telugubhakti.com, telugunidhi.com are doing notable service in these areas of propagating the roots of our culture and dharma envisaged in our vedas and puranas through their translation into the local language – Telugu. Again, blogs like – samanvayabharathi. wordpress.com are giving practical guidance as to how to go about this task.
